The annual gala event of the Indian Diamond & Colorstone Association was held on July 31, 2001 at Grand Hyatt's Empire Ballroom.

The occasion was the awarding of two prestigious awards by the association. The "Manufacturer of the year" award was presented to Victor Weinman, President of Original Design/Famor Inc. (ODI) by Amal Jhaveri, President of IDCA and Rajesh Bhagat, Secretary of IDCA. This award is presented to an individual or a company, which has a history of using extensively and thus promoting the Indian diamonds and colorstones in the jewelry designed, manufactured and marketed in the US and abroad.

The "Doyenne of the year" award was presented to Phyllis Bergman by India's Consul General Shashi Tripathi on behalf of the association. Bergman, who is the president of Women's Jewelry Association and Mercury Ring Corporation, is active in a number of social, cultural and women's organizations.  The presentation of ward to her is a recognition of the important role the women are playing in diamond, colorstone and jewelry industry.

The event concluded with an entertainment show.
